The auto electrical parts in any modern vehicle on the road today is the most highly complex part of that automobile. The ignition system is a crucial element of the auto electrical system and is responsible for the electric spark that is brought to each cylinder in the engine. Without this spark the fuel and air mix in the cylinders couldn't ignite and the engine won't work. The timing of the spark is important and corresponds with the velocity at which the engine wants to operate, so the spark plugs are attached to a distributor cap or ignition coil by way of individual ignition wires. The distributor or ignition coil sends a current of electricity to each cylinder as needed.
The ability of the auto to watch the functions of the engine and the other bits of the auto rely upon the on board auto computer which is the central nervous system of the automobile electrical system. The computer can measure the amount of air or fuel introduced to the cylinders as well as the temperature of the engine and the composition of gases leaving the cylinders after combustion. It can also control the idle speed of the engine depending on the requirements of the engine and control the shifting of the automatic transmission in most cars. Without it, most modern cars would be unemployable.
Within all modern cars there are safety restraints and other gadgets that rely on the auto electrical system. The supplemental air bag system is monitored by the on board PC and the various sensors that are established around the auto. Should a crash happen, several sensors send a signal to the PC which in turn sends a signal to the appropriate airbag for deployment. Thanks to the high rate of speed of such an electrical signal, the air bag is utilized fast enough to inflate before your head has the chance to flail forward. Without this electric impulse the response time would be difficult.
The antilock braking system is among the best safety contributions to the vehicle industry in recent times. With the auto electrical system, the anti-lock braking system permits the onboard PC to control the rate of braking in an emergency stop. Usually the car can be securely stopped on wet pavement or ice during unexpected braking by the driver. An electrical impulse from the PC keeps the brakes from locking tight onto the rotor and instead pumps the brakes for the driver. The result is better traction and steering control during an emergency auto stop. As part of the electrical system, the ABS is important.
